Susan Avery Morrison, M.Ed., LPC, NCC
Warm. Professional. Supportive. Real.
At Anchor Counseling, PLLC, therapy is a place to exhale. Whether you are carrying anxiety, trauma, relationship pain, family stress, or the quiet exhaustion of always being the strong one, you do not have to navigate it alone.
I provide counseling for individuals, couples, and families who want more than just a place to vent. A place to feel understood, not judged. Therapy can be a space to process what hurts, understand yourself more clearly, and build practical tools that help you feel more grounded in everyday life.
My approach to counseling is relaxed, compassionate, and collaborative. I believe healing happens in spaces where people feel emotionally safe enough to be honest. Therapy with me is professional and goal-oriented, but it is also warm, conversational, and genuine.
Some clients come in knowing exactly what they want to work on. Others only know that they feel overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck, or exhausted. Both are okay. We start where you are and work together to create meaningful progress.
Who I help:
- Individuals
Support for anxiety, trauma, depression, stress, grief, life transitions, and burnout.
- Couples
Help with communication, trust, emotional distance, conflict, and rebuilding connection.
- Families
Support in navigating family tension, parenting stress, changing roles, and difficult seasons.
- Military and Military Families
Therapy that understands the unique pressures of military life, including deployment stress, transitions, relationship strain, and the emotional demands placed on service members and their families.
My Approach
I use evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, and EMDR-informed interventions to help clients better understand patterns, regulate emotions, process difficult experiences, and move toward lasting change.
My style is supportive, down-to-earth, and engaged. I strive to create a counseling experience that feels both comfortable and effective, where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to grow. I believe therapy works best when it is built on trust, honesty, and a strong therapeutic relationship.
Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Some sessions may focus on practical coping tools and problem-solving. Others may create space for deeper emotional processing and healing. My role is to meet you where you are while helping you move toward where you want to be.
