Meet Avery Morrison, LPC, NCC...

Avery Morrison, LPC, NCC is the founder and director of Anchor Counseling, PLLC, serving the Hampton Roads community since 2018. She earned her Master’s degree in Education from the University of Mississippi in 2008 and is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor.

Avery is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and has extensive experience working with individuals, families, and groups across a variety of settings—including community mental health, inpatient crisis care, and school-based counseling. Her background includes several years as a military counselor within Virginia Beach Public Schools, as well as work with the Center for Advanced Psychological Services.

As a military spouse in the Hampton Roads area since 2013, Avery understands firsthand the unique challenges faced by service members and their families. She created Anchor Counseling to offer a space that feels supportive, down-to-earth, and grounded—where clients can show up as they are and begin to work through life’s challenges in a meaningful way.

Outside of the office, you’ll likely find Avery on the sidelines of a volleyball court or soccer field, cheering on her two children alongside her husband, who serves in the U.S. Navy.
